Sandpoint at the North End of the Long Bridge

This documentary film created by award-winning cinematographer Erik Daarstad tells the story of Sandpoint’s history from prehistoric days until its centennial anniversary in 2001, featuring interviews with beloved locals. Enjoy an intermission Q&A with makers of the film, including screenwriter Sandy Compton. Split into two parts, early and modern history- come for one or both, but don’t miss the Q&A!

Community Character Hour Episode 13: Flora of North Idaho with special guest Jack Nisbet

Join hosts Jack and Hannah, with special guest and renowned author and historian Jack Nisbet, to discuss the plant life of North Idaho in the 1800s and earlier. We will talk about how native plants have changed and adapted since the Ice Age, and how knowledge of local flora (or lack thereof) affected the lives of Native Tribes and early explorers. Finally, we’ll discuss the botanists featured in Nisbet’s books.

Private Event: Bonner County Ladies Homestead Gathering

Members of the Bonner County Ladies Homestead Gathering will join BCHS docents for a private guided tour of the 1904 homestead log cabin and an exhibit about the Rural Electrification Act and its impact on rural families. They will also hear stories about women who homesteaded in Bonner County at the turn of the last century.

Vintage Valentines- February 6, 2025

BCHS members crafted Valentines for the Valentines for Seniors project. Curator Olivia Fee shared romantic photos and sweet notes from the collection, and volunteer Kathy Hubbard read excerpts from the collection of over 100 love letters penned by Ole Jennestad to his fiancé in the 1910s.
